Hey everyone. My name is Abigail, and I’m 20 years old. I currently attend the University of South Alabama as a sophomore. I am a Strategic Communications major with a minor in Spanish!
For me personally, I think the purpose of a blog is to get an individual’s thoughts out into the world. Whether others will read it or not, it can be used as a good diary, journal, or therapy session.
I read a lot of foodie/recipe blogs because I LOVE cooking, baking, and trying new recipes! Also, in my travels I like to know what the cool new restaurants are in different cities. My favorite food blog is Hot For Food. It has all kinds of healthy recipes that are vegetarian and vegan friendly!
Being a strat comm major, a lot of it requires writing. Potential employers or internships can look at my blog and see examples of my writing. If my blog is popular, I can put on a resume something like “my blog got shared 500 times” or “I have over 1000 followers on my blog!” That is definitely something that can set me apart from others trying to get the same job I am applying for!
Mostly, I want to use this blog to get my thoughts out into the world. I write to feel and to connect. In Sean McManus’ textbook, Web Design in Easy Steps, he mentions that you can use a blog to comment on what you are thinking. I plan to do exactly that!
